Recently we sat down with founder of Holbrook Rob Lorenz and asked him some questions about his business Holbrook and its place in the global construction scene.
How long have you lived in Thailand?
I’ve lived in beautiful Thailand for 8 years. When I first moved here I immediately felt connected to the Thai people and country. The weather was similar to summer at my home in Australia and I really thought there was an opportunity here to be creative, successful and happy here. I’ve been involved in construction for 24 years and I thought Thailand would be great place to use that experience and knowledge to help grow the place I love in a positive direction.
Why did you decide to open a construction company in Thailand?
I saw a lot of opportunity here for high quality construction and construcion technology. I was positive I could develop a business that could be more efficient, cost effective and with higher quality international standards and the oppportunity to bring ideas, procedures, technology and high quality craftsmanship that i learnt first hand back home in Australia.
I think Thai architecture is so unique and creative. I thought if I could combine those qualities with International standards and quality we could set Holbrook apart from other business here.

What does Holbrook offer to its clients?
Holbrook offers quality, experience and service!
I feel these things set us apart. In terms of service, I take great pride in being present from a projects conception to the final product. I’m a people person and I think it’s part of the process to meet with clients and hear their ideas first hand, in order to fully grasp the end product they have in mind. Our customer service and attention to detail is what delivers us repeat customers and bottom line…satisfied customers.
On top of this, as a team we offer over a 100 years of quality construction knowledge and we take great pride in trying to acquire the best in our industry, locally and abroad.
In the near future we have plans on working with universities to accommodate apprenticeships to try and grow the future of industry.
What sets Holbrook apart from the others?
What sets us apart is our relationships! Any type of build takes trust and that starts with communication and relationships between Clients, suppliers, teams, specialists and especially our workforce. I am always reminded that we are only as good as our carpenters who are driving in the nails.
We also are constantly learning and growing with our industry. We are passionate about seeing what the global community is in need of and wants. We are specifically interested in green builds and involving more technology into how we do things.
What are some upcoming projects you’re excited about?
Right now we have 4 residential house projects, that are of a high scale, that we are excited to be a part of, as well as a commercial build for Seara Sports Head quarters in Bangkok. We are also focusing a lot of attention in the high end residential villa/housing industry in Phuket, where we have some projects on the go and we are looking to acquire more and eventually set up a sector of Holbrook there.
What’s the most rewarding thing about your industry?
I feel these things set us apart. In terms of service, I take great pride in being present from a projects conception to the final product. I’m a people person and I think it’s part of the process to meet with clients and hear their ideas first hand, in order to fully grasp the end product they have in mind. Our customer service and attention to detail is what delivers us repeat customers and bottom line…satisfied customers.
I see Holbrook as an industry leader in many sectors of the construction industry. I see us being able to operate at a larger international scale. I envision us to be a leading choice when businesses are thinking to create, build, expand, renovate and develop.
I’m excited for the future!
